SEER - STULZ answers

In the United States, use is made of the Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER). This standard is similar to the ESEER and is calculated by dividing the cooling load of a system per year (QC) by the annual power consumption (QCE). Here too: the higher the outcome, the more energy efficient the unit is.

SEER = Qc / Qce

An SEER value of 5.00 means that the power consumption of only 1 kW is good for an average cooling capacity of 5 kW per year. On average, 14.00 is a good SEER value, but some systems can even achieve a value of 23.00.

According to Ecodesign Regulation (EU) 2016/2281, the measuring amount (calculated according to technical standard 14825) must be given. This is mandatory to obtain a CE marking, because the minimum prescribed efficiency values must be met. Take note: this only applies for comfort cooling in buildings that primarily accommodate people.
